Principal’s Welcome

Vice Principal: Audrey Tang and Principal: Christopher Duncan

ESF Hillside International Kindergarten is part of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), Hong Kong’s largest provider of English-medium international education. ESF’s integrated network of 22 schools and comprehensive programme of after-school activities help to bring out the best in every student through a personalised approach to learning and by inspiring curious minds.

The forerunner of ESF Hillside International Kindergarten was founded 1999 in Sheung Wan, it was named ESF Sheung Wan International Kindergarten. It was a much smaller school, just large enough for about 170 students, accommodating two K1 and two K2 classes for children aged three to five.

It was a major milestone when the kindergarten moved to Stubbs Road in 2010 and received the name “Hillside”, which it bears today. In a venue created from the ESF office, which moved to North Point, Hillside is double the size of the Sheung Wan site, providing 3,000 square feet of space on two floors and catering for 360 students. Hillside operates two 3-hour sessions, with four classes each per year group (K1 and K2) in each session.

ESF Hillside International Kindergarten offers an English-medium education for K1 and K2 children aged 3 to 5 years in an open-planned setting. The kindergarten is an IB World School authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IB) to offer the Primary Years Programme. IB World Schools share a common philosophy — a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education—that we believe is important for our students.

Our vision is for every child to be the best that they can be.
Our mission is to inspire creativity and nurture the global citizens and leaders of the future.

We will do this by creating joyful learning environments, led by a community of exceptional teachers, who bring out the best in every child through a personalised approach to learning and by inspiring curious minds.
