Head of School’s Message

Dear Parents

We’ve been delighted to have children back into the school! We’ve had six groups of children return last week, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. Our K2 children were so happy to see their friends and teachers, and joined in without skipping a beat! With the prior connections made via Zooms, our K1 children recognised their teachers straightaway, which has helped to make a smooth transition into the new classroom environment.

As young children, they will need constant reminders of our Health & Safety 1, 2, 3s: 1) Face masks on at all times; 2) Handwashing between class transitions; 3) Keep a little space to avoid overcrowding. It would help if all families have a chat about what these mean in preparation for children returning. You may also wish to refer to parts of this social story on Going Back to School to provide some visuals (courtesy of Autism Little Learners)

Important Reminders:

  • Record daily temperature checks at home via the ESF App (Under the ‘Hillside VLE’ button);
  • Families will have to ‘opt-in’ to receive the ESF Relief Grant, which is calculated as 45% of one month’s tuition (deadline 22 September);
  • Report absences;
  • Inform your class teacher and the bus company of any changes to going home arrangements (e.g. you child is NOT travelling on the bus, or your child is going with a classmate for a playdate…etc);

ESF Sports

As part of our Zoom offering these past few weeks, the ESF Sports coaches offered live weekly exercise sessions to help build up motor skills. Unfortunately, as face-to-face classes resume in primary and secondary schools, these online sessions will have to come to an end for us this Wednesday. Instead, the coaches will share a pre-recorded video for our Thursday classes.

We thank the coaches for their time and contributions these past few weeks. We will continue to work with the coaches to explore how they can be involved in the kindergarten sector in the future.

We look forward to welcoming all the children in school very soon! If you have any questions or concerns or would like to discuss any aspect of the plan for your child’s return to Hillside, please do not hesitate to contact us on kinder@hillside.edu.hk

Thank you and kind regards

Audrey
